standard (adj) Usual, common, customary A CD player is standard in all new cars.

optional (adj) Not customary, left to your choice A CD player is standard in all new cars, but an IPOD connection is optional for $99.

enclosed (verb) To insert in the same envelope or package Please find enclosed a bill with your order.

submit (verb) To give something for approval I submit this idea to you. If you like it, you may use it.

routine (noun) Normal procedure, everyday practice A 9:00 meeting is part of our office’s normal routine.

procedure (noun) How any action or conduct in a business should take place. After making a sale, we send a letter of thanks to the customer, then we call in 6 months to see if they need any assistance. This is the normal procedure.

inconvenience (noun) Something that causes discomfort or trouble We are sorry for any inconvenience the delay in shipping may have caused.

secure payment (verb) To receive payment for services We must secure payment from the customer this week. They can pay by credit card or check.

direct (adj) Straightforward, candid, frank The language in your business letters shoud be direct. Tell them immediately what you want!

indirect (adj) Opposite of direct; Not going in a straight line You may need to use indirect language to persuade your customer.
