2 Granville Towers Halloween 2015 Procedures Overview of guest registration process Step 1 – Review this presentation! Step 2 – Complete the Halloween Quiz and Sign Up! After completing this presentation there will be a link which will allow you access to the Halloween quiz and sign up. Step 3 – PRIOR to 6 PM on Halloween night, pick up and distribute appropriate wristbands to appropriate guests (they will be labeled) You must pick up your wristband (and wristbands for your guests if you take and pass the quiz) from the desk at your individual tower. Wristbands will be available for pick up on October 28 th, 29 th, 30 th (9AM-5PM) and October 31 st (10AM-5PM) Step 4 – ALL residents and their guests MUST present wristband and valid photo ID to gain entry to Granville beginning at 6 PM on Halloween! NOTE: No replacements will be given for lost/stolen guest wristbands. If you misplace your guest wristband(s), you forfeit your privilege to have guests.

3 Granville Towers Halloween 2015 Procedures What to expect… Security personnel EVERYWHERE! All study lounges will be locked All emergency exits will have security GT management, The Granville Community Directors, and Granville RAs will be on constant rounds all night long Stairwells will be monitored

4 Granville Towers Halloween 2015 Procedures Resident responsibility for guests According to the Community Living Standards: The host is responsible for their guest and the actions of their guest. The resident host must escort their guest in the residence hall at all times. If a guest returns to Granville without his/her resident host, he/she will not be allowed in the building – not even to use the restroom. He/she will be given a list of area hotels or cab contact info.

6 Granville Towers Halloween 2015 Procedures Precautionary Measures Map out a game plan concerning where to meet if you become separated Have cell phone fully charged and turned on, carry ID, room keys, and key fob with you at all times Talk to your room- and suite-mates about guests he/she is hosting LOCK YOUR DOOR Put your wristband on early in the day on Saturday so you don’t forget it Travel in packs MAKE SMART DECISIONS.

7 Granville Towers Halloween 2015 Procedures Other info to note Franklin Street will close to vehicles at 8:30 PM on Saturday (Halloween). ONLY THOSE with valid Granville parking permits will be able to park in the lot. All others will be towed at owner’s expense. There will be no guest passes sold on Friday, October 30 th or Saturday, October 31 st. No 2 hour parent parking will be available on Saturday, October 31 st.

9 Prohibited Items on Franklin WEAPONS ANIMALS (Service animals are exempt.) GLASS BOTTLES (Any type of ALCOHOL) PAINT FIREWORKS FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES COOLERS

10 Prohibited Items on Franklin WEAPONS Anything metal, wood, or hard plastic which could be perceived as a weapon. Examples include toy handcuffs, guns, baseball bats, swords, golf clubs, glow sticks, etc.

11 Prohibited Items on Franklin ANYONE ENTERING THE CLOSED OFF AREA AROUND FRANKLIN ST. IS SUBJECT TO BEING SEARCHED. THAT INCLUDES ANY CONTAINERS, PURSES OR BAGS. WHEN PLANNING YOUR HALLOWEEN COSTUME, PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND. IF AN ITEM IS SEIZED FROM YOU, ITS SAFETY WILL NOT BE GUARANTEED. IF YOU WANT IT BACK, DON’T BRING IT IN THE FIRST PLACE.

12 Prohibited Items on Franklin MASKS North Carolina General Statue – Means its against State Law 14.12.7 - Wearing of Masks, Hoods, etc. on Public Ways No person or persons at least 16 years of age shall, while wearing any mask, hood or device whereby the person, face or voice is disguised so as to conceal the identity of the wearer, enter, be or appear upon any lane, walkway, alley, street, road, highway or other public way in the state (Keep this in mind when planning your Halloween costume)

13 Prohibited Items on Franklin ALCOHOL All alcohol laws will be enforced. Alcohol in glass bottles or cans is prohibited in the Franklin St. area. Alcohol consumption or possession under the age of 21 is illegal. This includes alcohol purchased at locations in or near the closed area. You will not be allowed to “cut through” the closed area with alcohol. I

14 Alcohol Enforcement Police plan to begin reopening Franklin St. at 11:00 PM and to reopen to vehicular traffic vehicular traffic at midnight. DWI enforcement will be in place at the event in cooperation with NC Highway Patrol. All ABC permittees among the bars and restaurants in downtown Chapel Hill will not permit customers to re-enter after 1:00 AM. Bars will charge a minimum $5.00 cover to patrons not attending private events. I

15 General Safety Tips GO ON THE BUDDY SYSTEM IF YOU’RE DRINKING TAKE A SOBER FRIEND WITH YOU DON’T TAKE ANYTHING THAT YOU DON’T NEED OR CAN’T HAVE WITH YOU TO FRANKLIN ST. DON’T WALK AROUND BY YOURSELF SEE ANY SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY CALL THE POLICE UTILIZE THE P2P HAVE FUN, BUT STAY SAFE! I

16 Reminders about Wristbands Each resident may have a total of 2 guests. Guests will be allowed to enter only the Tower in which their host lives and their host must be present. Wristbands must be worn at all times and you must have your ID present. No replacement wristbands will be issued. Duplication of a Granville wristband will result in disciplinary action.
