I NTRODUCTION I NTRODUCTION Blood donation is a voluntary procedure. You agree to have blood drawn so that it can be given to someone who needs a blood transfusion. Millions of people need blood transfusions each year. Some may need blood during surgery. Others, depend on it after an accident or because they have a disease, that requires blood components. Blood donation makes all of this possible, and more... (Mayo Clinic, 2014)

T HE U LTIMATE G IFT Blood Donation “The Ultimate Gift” - Blood Donation by Jennifer Conard is a video that presented the magnitude of the problem with the lack of blood donations, and is why that in the speech, urges her classmates to become regular blood donors.
7
B LOOD D ONATION Is the message clear and well structured? The call to the action was clear, well structured and certainly effective. Now, I know the importance between making a blood donation and giving encourage to the others to take the action. I too urge all to take a stand and become a regular blood donor, like Jennifer Conard said in her speech. Forty-five minutes out of your day, is a small price to pay for the lifetime of satisfaction you receive by knowing you may have saved a life.
8
B LOOD D ONATION If you have never donated blood before, pull deep inside yourself to find some courage and say “I am a first time blood donor”. If you have donated before, think back to the feeling of pride you received from making your donation and goes ahead to donate once again and for the rest of your life.
9
B LOOD D ONATION Does the setting have any impact on the message? What kind of impact? No visuals were included on the speech; only Jennifer in a podium. I understand who everyone heard this beautiful discourse, had in their minds the little blue-eyes girl named Brooke, who is one of the Jennifer’s inspirations, the red color of blood, the moment to donate and the image of satisfaction, once the action of the donation is made. Certainly, she impact with the message.
10
B LOOD D ONATION Does the speaker show responsible knowledge and an ethical use of communication techniques? Only Jennifer's face transmits security, sensitivity and great knowledge on the subject of blood donation. Her firmness and her flow, makes the listener have the desire to go to donate blood. Definitely, she is a young woman with great determination and ethical communication techniques.
11
B LOOD D ONATION Do listeners meet their responsibilities as critical, constructive listeners? How do you know that? People who are in the audience as listeners, do not become visible, but that Jennifer received a great applause, echoed the message was well transmitted, received and understood by the people in there. I know they will give their best in the blood donation campaign.

C ONCLUSION The speaker Jennifer Conard said, that fortunately it is a problem that can be easily solved. Also said, that everyone can be part of the solution. Only the people have to do, to save priceless lives, is go to the nearest Red Cross and donate blood. Please, let's do it! Please, let's do it!
