Steps Diagnose Select interventions Define indicators Identify information sources and collect data Identify the bottlenecks Identify areas lagging behind Analyse the root causes of bottlenecks Intervene Prioritize solutions with all stakeholders Define an implementation and monitoring plan Support implementation Verify Monitor frequently using existing opportunities Adjust Take corrective actions to ensure impact

Use the following criteria to select the interventions Interventions that address main causes of mortality and morbidity Interventions whose coverage or quality are low Interventions that are likely to be affected by probable future hazards/crisis Interventions that are high in the political agenda Use clear criteria

Chose few interventions Select a limited number of high priority interventions It is possible to work only on a limited number of interventions and of bottlenecks Collecting information to do the analysis can be labor intense, so is better to limit the list to what we really want to prioritize Resources to address bottlenecks and improve coverage and quality are limited (need to be strategic)

Cover all delivery platforms Choose interventions from all the delivery platforms to ensure that you are strengthening the whole delivery system: Family oriented practices and community based services Schedulable and outreach services Individualized facility based services
