33,000 SMILES Learning to Love others…even when you don’t feel like it!
2
Making God Smile Last year I did an assembly titled “Making God Smile”
3
I am always amazed how the power of kind words or actions can transform an environment.
4
The Bible has a lot to say on this! Gracious speech is like clover honey— good taste to the soul, quick energy for the body. Proverbs 16:24
5
A glad heart makes a happy face; a broken heart crushes the spirit. A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash. For the despondent, every day brings trouble; for the happy heart, life is a continual feast. Proverbs 15:13-15
6
Jesus Changes the Rules “You’re familiar with the old written law, ‘Love your friend,’ and its unwritten companion, ‘Hate your enemy.’ I’m challenging that. Matthew 5:43.
7
Matthew 5:43-48 I’m telling you to love your enemies. Let them bring out the best in you, not the worst. When someone gives you a hard time, respond with the energies of prayer, for then you are working out of your true selves, your God-created selves.
8
Act Like God Does This is what God does. He gives his best—the sun to warm and the rain to nourish—to everyone, regardless: the good and bad, the nice and nasty.

21 “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.
11
Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca, (old word for “contempt” or “empty fellow)’ [ is answerable to the court.
12
And anyone who says, ‘You fool! (rebel)’ will be in danger of the fire of hell (gehenna).
13
If someone asked you “so what makes you a Christian?” What would you say?
14
We accept Jesus? But what does it mean to say we “accept Jesus”?
15
How do we really know we are Christ’s disciples? Well, Jesus gave his disciples a Statement of Faith so everyone would know who was on his team
16
STATEMENT OF FAITH What we believe The Bible is the inspired and only infallible Word of God. There is one true God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit. In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to the earth in power and glory to rule for a thousand years. In the blessed hope, the imminent return of Christ for overcoming believers. In the fall and sinfulness of man and that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the redeeming blood of Christ. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential to personal salvation. Divine healing is available through the redemptive work of Christ on the cross. The Baptism of the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. The Holy Spirit in a person’s life is evidenced by changes in his life, including a renewed love for God, and people, a commitment to the scriptures and holy living. The spirit filled believer has the capability of speaking with new tongues whether or not he or she chooses to exercise this gifting. The Church of Jesus Christ is the universal, spiritual body of believers from every tribe, tongue, kindred and race of peoples, and is indwelt by God through the Holy Spirit and divinely empowered to fulfill ministry and her Great Commission on earth. In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. In the resurrection and final judgment of both the saved and the lost, the saved to everlasting life and the lost to everlasting damnation. In the new heavens and the new earth and the holy Jerusalem, the city of God, descending out of heaven and filled with the glory of God. Christian growth can only be realized by faith in the promises of God.
17
Actually no, It was much simpler but WAY more difficult:
18
John 13 When Judas was gone, Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man is glorified and God is glorified in him. If God is glorified in him, God will glorify the Son in himself, and will glorify him at once. My children, I will be with you only a little longer. You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so I tell you now: Where I am going, you cannot come. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
19
Loving People is hard… Statements of Faith are easy…
20
Do people know you are Christ’s disciple by the example he gives?
