 First of all I would like to welcome the math department to this meeting. Over the years our faculty has been very strong with its instruction and has been open to new ideas to generate student success. The purpose of our meeting today is to stress the importance of incorporating technology into your classrooms through effective instruction. Our overall goal is to provide instruction to our students in a way that will promote 21 st century education and integrate technology into our instruction in a way that would be effective. One method of integration is through podcasting.

 Visual Learner-a video podcast offers the visual learner an option for review and reflection  Auditory Learner-can play and replay the content indefinitely  Kinesthetic Learner-can play the time-shifted content outside of school when movement is free

Students love podcasts because podcasts are:  Available anytime, even on the way to the mall  More compelling than some other classroom activities  Great for students who learn better by listening  Easy to access  Easy to create and post

1. Use the Web 2. Use Apple’s ITunes 3. Obtain a podcast address from other places like magazines, etc.

1. Plan the content and “flow” of your podcast 2. Research and collect the information, and write the scripts or prepare video assets 3. Post your podcast 4. Tell the world 5. Evaluate your podcast and plan for improvement

 Curriculum enhancement  Calculator procedures  Instructional/classroom lecture notes  Differentiation of instruction  Archived Lessons  Problem solving procedures  Study support (repetitive listening)  Videos of hands-on activities

 As 21 st century education emerges, we are posed with the problem of keeping the interests of the children through means other than the traditional ways of teaching. Robert Marzano’s research has proven that children learn better by multi-sensory techniques. We also know that the technology era has boomed over the last decade and continues to grow exponentially. Our goal today is to introduce an idea of developing your classroom notes in a way that will be appealing and will involve multi- sensory learning techniques through the use of podcasting. As you know many of our students have an IPod or some type of MP3 player. Podcasting is a way for our students to access your classroom notes, short video clips, or classroom information any time by means of audio and/or visual through their IPod. Throughout this meeting you will be provided with information from my colleagues on how to develop podcasts and what your students will benefit from podcasting
