2 Year-Round Opportunities ► Backpacking and Hiking ► Use of Boating equipment on Lake Straus ► Sports (Volleyball, Basketball, and Fishing) ► Orienteering

3 Aquatics ► SCUBA Certification Week Long Program from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. $ 225.00 per scout. Transportation is provided to Guppy Gulch in Delta, PA. Must be 14 or older ► BSA Life Guard Certification Week Long program with no additional cost. Must be 14 or older.

4 Golf Merit Badge ► This session will include a one-hour clinic with a golf professional, nine holes of golf, and dinner on the course. The additional cost for this activity is $40, payable when you arrive in camp.

5 Shooting Sports ► Saffran, Spencer, and Oest (archery only) Ranges are available on a first-come, first served bases. All reservations for ranges are made through Camping Services. A copy of applicable training cards (NRA, NAA or BSA) must be in the instructors’ possession while at camp. The fee for one half (1/2) day (a.m. or p.m.) of range use is $25. This fee includes: ► Rifle: 12 guns, cleaning supplies, targets, eye and ear protection Shotgun: 2 shotguns, batteries (if applicable), eye and ear protection Archery: 8 bows, 40 arrows, 8 target butts, protective equipment

6 C.O.P.E. ► For Scouts who are at least 13 years old and older, the challenge of the C.O.P.E. course is varied and can be a great test. The challenges are physical as well as mental. The Broad Creek C.O.P.E. course offers 19 different challenge stations. The program is run either each morning or afternoon depending on scheduling. The sessions are limited to 24 Scouts each. The fee for the C.O.P.E. program is $20 per Scout.

7 Lost Pines ► The Lost Pines Wilderness is a high adventure program for Scouts 13 years old and older who think they have done it all. This program has been created with today’s challenges and technology in mind. The Lost Pines Wilderness Outpost is under the direction of Mike Sulewski who was responsible for developing the Camp Spencer First-Year Camper program in 2000. This adventure will explore the camp’s back country, along with trips off camp property that will physically and mentally challenge each Scout’s outdoor skills. ► http://lostpinescamp.com/ http://lostpinescamp.com/

8 What Some Scouts had to Say ► “Most fun I have ever had at camp.” ► “I can complete merit badges that I need, while still getting to do a high adventure program.” ► “I loved being in the water everyday during the week.”

9 Conservation Projects ► Broad Creek offers campers the opportunity to learn about the local environment. We encourage all our campers to consider getting involved and improving our land area. ► Volunteers providing ten (10) hours of service to camp in a calendar year will earn the prestigious Broad Creek Service Award. Any ten hours worked in a year qualifies a participant for this award, which is presented by the camp rangers.

10 Cub Scout Camping ► At every session, Cubs will participate in instructional and open swimming, rowing or canoeing, shooting bows and arrows and BB guns, handicraft projects, and nature activities. Webelos will also participate in Scoutcraft and a special overnight outpost called Project MOOSE. Program runs daily from 8:00 a.m. through 9:00 p.m.

11 Working at Camp ► Counselor-in-Training Under the direction of the Program Director, he will be trained in camp counseling, Scoutcraft skills, effective teaching, Troop duties, and other personal qualities required to be a successful staff member. The CIT will serve for at least a two-week period with an evaluation being made after each week.

12 Working at Camp ► To be a staff member at Camp Saffran or Spencer, you must be at least 16 years of age by June 1. To be a staffer at Camp Oest, you must be at least 15 years of age by June 1.
