8.G.C. Solve real-world mathematical problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. IMPACT SAMR Cover Sheet Task OverviewLearning Objective(s)Suggested Technology Using the “Show Me” app, pairs of students will create a real-life problem involving volume of prisms to be presented to the class. TLW demonstrate understanding of the volume of prisms with a real-life connection You will use the app Solids 2 to test your knowledge and enhance your understanding of volume of prisms. TLW know and use the formulas of cones, cylinders, and spheres to solve mathematical problems with changes in dimensions. This is an activity that can be worked as a partner activity or individually. The activity includes activities that demonstrate understanding of volume.. TLW will complete a nearpod activity for finding the volume of cones, cylinders and spheres.. Student groups will compete in groups solving problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. TLW know the formulas for the volume of cones, cylinders, and spheres and use them to solve real- world and mathematical problems Louisiana Math Standard (include description): Teacher: Lynne Denison MODIFICATION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable. AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement. QR Scavenger Hunt 1.Move to your student group. 2.One student collects the group ipad. 3.Each student receives a student work sheet which you will put your name. 4.Your group will use the QR reader and scan the QR code. One student will read the problem and all students will write the problem on their paper in the numbered box. 5.Each student individually solves the problem. 6.Students will check and correct their agreed upon answer. 7.Students bring sheet to teacher and she will either agree or disagree. If she disagrees, group reworks the problem. If she agrees group receives a point. 8.When the team receives their point they move on to the next problem. 9.Groups will be placed based on number of points acquired. Student groups will compete in groups solving problems involving volume of cylinders, cones, and spheres. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): TLW know the formulas for the volume of cones, cylinders, and spheres and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems. S SUBSTITUTION Technology acts a direct substitute, with no functional improvement

Nearpod Activity - Volume 1.Pick your student partner. 2.Retrieve an ipad for you and your partner off the shelf. 3.Log on to wifi using your school user name and password. 4.Click on the Nearpod app. 5.Join the live session using the number projected on the screen. 6.When you and asked to submitted your name use you and your partners class number. Example 3/6 7.Following the teachers instructions complete the “draw it” section. 8.Complete the fill in the blank section. 9.When you get to the quiz part make sure that you and your partner discuss all answers before submitting them. 10.When complete, forget the network and return the ipad to the shelf. This is an activity that can be worked as a partner activity or individually. The activity includes activities that demonstrate understanding of volume. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): TLW will complete a nearpod activity for finding the volume of cones, cylinders and spheres. A AUGMENTATION Technology acts as a direct tool for substitution with some functional improvement.

Let’s Change It Up With Solids 2 1.Choose a partner. 2.Collect an ipad. Log on to the WIFI using your secure CPSB id. 3.Choose the app Solids 2. 4.You and your partner will do the review section. 5.Complete all parts of Section 2 the properties of solids. 6.Complete all parts of Section 3 prisms. 7.Log off of your ID. Forget the network. You will use the app Solids 2 to test your knowledge and enhance your understanding of volume of prisms. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): TLW know and use the formulas of cones, cylinders, and spheres to solve mathematical problems with changes in dimensions. Show Me What You Know 1.Choose your work partner. 2.Retrieve an ipad off of the shelf. 3.One of you log on to the Wifi using your user name and password. 4.Select the “Show Me” app. 5.You or your partner will draw from the box of sphere, cylinder and retangular prism. 6.Using the prism you drew you will create a “show me” recording related to real-life. 7.Your recording must include the following: A real-life situation, the formula for your prism, a visual representation, and a verbal explanation. 8.When you are finish have Mrs. Denison check your recording for all items included. 9.Present your problem to the class. Using the “Show Me” app, pairs of students will create a real-life problem involving volume of prisms to be presented to the class. This task uses: Learning Objective(s): TLW demonstrate understanding of the volume of prisms with a real-life connection. R REDEFINITION Technology allows for the creation of new tasks that were previously not conceivable
