1. My Day in Mexico

2. I drove on a Mexican road.

3. The air was smoggy. Things far away were hard to see.

4. I saw that Mexican people use yellow construction equipment, too!

5. Here is a backhoe!

6. I decided to drive to a nice waterfall. What would it be like? ?

7. I drove past downtown Monterrey. Do you see the skyscrapers?

8. I drove through a tunnel. Do you see it?

9. I saw some yellow street signs.

10. I saw a pick-up truck with POLICIA written on it. It was a police truck!

11. I drove past a big, fancy department store,

12. and I drove past some apartment buildings on a hill.

13. I saw an electrical power substation,

14. and also some high voltage towers.

15. I drove past some houses where poor people lived.

16. There was even a McDonald’s restaurant there.

17. This famous mountain in Monterrey is called Cerro de la Silla, or Saddle Mountain. Say SAIR-oh duh-la SEE-ya

18. I saw many Chevrolet cars, with Nuevo Leon license plates,

19. and I saw a big red Ford truck.

20. I passed buses,

21. and Mexican restaurants,

22. and some herons (big birds).

23. Then I drove up a hill, up a narrow road,

24. The yellow sign said there was a winding road ahead.

25. Some people were talking on the side of the road.

26. I went higher and higher. Now I was up in the hills.

27. The road was steep. It went up and up.

28. Finally I came to the park. I came to a stop sign. It said Alto.

29. I stopped next to a nice palm tree.

30. At the park, some people went on a fun ride.

31. This sign is in Spanish. It means, “Welcome to Horsetail Falls.”

32. This little boy was riding a small horse, and leading another horse!

33. And this old man was riding a burro (a donkey) and leading a little pony!

34. I crossed a creek.

35. I walked along a nice path.

36. People who didn’t want to walk could pay to ride in this. What is it?

37. It is a horse and carriage!

38. I walked up many steps.

39. Finally, I came to the waterfall!

41. The waterfall fell into a nice blue-green pool.

42. From the pool, water spilled down this pretty cascade.

43. I looked some more at the trees and hills, and then went down.

44. I passed a roller on the way down.

45. And I passed a rooster, who was crowing!
