EuCARD-2 is co-funded by the partners and the European Commission under Capacities 7th Framework Programme, Grant Agreement 312453 WP2 Catalyzing Innovation EuCAN Workshop “Universities meet laboratories” Frankfurt, 01.10.2014 G. Anelli, KT Group Leader, CERN

WP2 Objective The main goal of the WP is to maximize the likelihood that the Innovation generated within the various Work Packages of the project is transferred to society, and in particular, to industry. Key staff: – Penny Woodman and Vlad Skarda (STFC) – Enrico Chesta, Tim Tsarfati and myself (CERN) 2 Tasks: – Coordination and communication – Transfer innovation to industry G. Anelli, 01.10.2014

Deliverables and milestones D2.1 EuCARD-2 Key Technology Areas Report 3 Events: EuCARD-2 meets industry (topics selection guided by the report on Key Technology Areas) Presentation of EuCARD-2 project and technologies already started at the WAMAS Workshop and through the participation to the Hannover Messe (see later) G. Anelli, 01.10.2014

Key Technology Areas Report Authors: V. Skarda (STFC) and T. Tsarfati (CERN) Detailed interviews to all WPs The analysis of the results of interviews was carried out in terms of – time to market for the technology, – potential for KTT and – whether the WP was ready to engage with industry. G. Anelli, 01.10.2014

Detailed Questions 1.What are the most important innovative technologies being developed in your WP? 2.Why are they innovative? What are the needs/advantages or specific requirements over existing technologies that drive the development? 3.What are, in your opinion, other potential applications for the technology outside high energy physics area? 4.What is the likely process for the development of the technology (in house R&D, collaborative academic or industrial R&D, subcontract) G. Anelli, 01.10.2014

Detailed Questions – Cont. 5.Who are industrial partners you are either already collaborating with (if any) or would potentially envisage to collaborate with in the future? – What is/would be their role (supplier, R&D collaborator or a subcontractor) 6.What are the potential enablers, barriers and bottlenecks to KTT 7.How could certain developments be made more attractive to industry 8.AOB (any other business e.g. workshops) G. Anelli, 01.10.2014
