What is HOSA? NOT AN ORDINARY PRE-HEALTH SOCIETY!
AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT-LED organization composed of 200,000 members in over 2,650 chapters in fifty- four state associations, including chapters in Mexico, Canada, Italy, and Germany, as well as here in the United States HOSA is officially endorsed by the United States Department of Education and every state DOE (in states where HOSA exists) was officially organized at a Constitutional Convention held in Arlington, TX in Attendees included state supervisors, state advisors, teachers, and over 300 student leaders.

Purpose of HOSA: The purpose of HOSA is to develop the leadership abilities of its members through a health professions program of motivation, awareness, competition, awards, scholarships, and recognition at the local, state, and national levels These opportunities include the following: 3

An International Volunteer Service Recognition Program: The Barbara James Service Award The Presidential Service Award (Gold, Silver, and Bronze levels) A total of over $400,000 in scholarship funds awarded EACH YEAR at the HOSA International Leadership Conference and State Leadership Conferences Elected Leadership Positions at the State and National levels Networking with the forty-nine organizations which have official partnerships with HOSA Internships with the Surgeon General’s Office, the Medical Reserve Corps, and the Public Health Service Healthcare-related Educational Symposia at the state and international conferences Fifty-Seven different National Competitive and Recognition Events offered at the International Leadership Conference: 4
