Methods of Time Management Urgency/Importance Grid Gantt Chart 4 Week Planner

Urgency HighLow High AB Low CD Importance Time Plan Tools ~ Urgency/importance grid

Time Plan Tools ~ Urgency/importance grid explained… A ~ Do it yourself, now! This is both urgent and important, and so it should take a significant amount of your time. When it’s over, ask yourself why it was allowed to get to this state in the first place B ~ Do it yourself By your own reckoning, this is important to you. Make sure that you have allocated it sufficient time so that it can be completed before it becomes urgent. Ideally most of the tasks related to your key result areas should fall into this category C ~ If possible, get someone else to do it or do it QUICKLY If not, do it yourself, but in the least possible time. As soon as you can walk away from it do so. It doesn’t matter if it is interesting, fun, or if you are the leading expert – by your own criteria this is not important, so treat it accordingly! B ~ Don’t do it! Delay it The only exception might be time spent with others, building better working relationships, but this is probably an important activity in any case

Time Plan Tools ~ Gantt Planner explained… The columns could represent days, weeks, or months, depending on the level of detail at which you are planning, and the timescale involved. Your list of tasks needs to go in the left hand column. Then you plan at what stage you will be doing which task, and colour/shade in the boxes as necessary, to give you a visual representation of where tasks are overlapping, and when you are planning to do what. Time Plan Tools ~ 4 Week Planner explained… Use this template to timetable activities each day for the next four weeks. Use this to set yourself reasonable targets month by month.

Now spend 20 minutes picking the best planner for you – and write down the most important aspects to consider for your project, what you need to think about during the Christmas holiday, and how you can manage your project around your studies and work.
