4-H Club Health Officer Training This presentation will help you be a successful Health Officer Follow along with your new Health Officer Guide

What do Health Officers do? Lead the 4-H Club Health Committee Work with other club officers and leaders to create a yearly club health activity plan Use the 4-H Club Healthy Activity Guide to do one or more activity at each meeting Show club members ways to use their 4-H Health Planner Report activities and accomplishments to the club reporter and complete an End-of-Year Report

Members’ 4-H Health Planner The planner helps 4-H’ers and families learn about and try new health habits. What does the Health Officer do with the planner? shows club members the monthly challenge in the planner celebrates accomplishments signs their certificates when they complete their planner challenges

The 4-H Club Health Activity Guide The Guide helps you, the 4-H Health Officer lead monthly club activities. How? Do the Roll Call to introduce the health theme Take the Challenge Check, to ask members how they did the last month’s challenge Lead the Instant Activity Help members make My Plan for the monthly challenge in their 4-H Health Planner Share ideas for nutritious snacks with others Give a Family Handout to members to take home

The 4-H Family Handouts These help family members learn about and practice important health habits along with their 4-H members Handouts have additional information about monthly health topics Encourages 4-H’ers to share what they learn in meetings with their families

End-of-Year Record Form Reports are an important way to show your club’s accomplishments Each month, record activities you do on your form At the end of the club year, complete the form Share the information with your club leaders and Extension Agent

Follow these tips for success: Be familiar with your materials Make a plan with other club leaders Prepare your activities for every meeting Encourage members to practice “The Health H” with monthly challenges in their planner Do community service projects related to health Keep up with monthly reporting HAVE FUN
