Future 4 Kids Course Planner Career Cruising All PSRC 7th-12th Grade Students

1.Go to the school website and log in. The yellow shaded box displays directions to tell you how to do this.

2.Notice each week’s career focus and explore the required skills. Explore all the information on the left in Career Cruising. 3.Look across the top— above the Welcome to Career Cruising… and identify available tabs, you can see them clearly because they are purple.

4.Look again at the purple tabs across the top, find assessments and (click). This page encourages students to determine how they learn and specific strengths that direct them to possible careers.

5.Now, look to the left tabs—there are many exploration possibilities to help determine individual preferences. The results help students understand how they learn—also strengths (abilities) so they can explore specific careers—and know what courses in high school will continue to develop specific abilities.

6.Once again, look across the top to the purple tabs and click on the Portfolio tab—this takes you to the Portfolio homepage and allows you to access emails that school counselors have sent – and important documents that are sent from the district level—all kinds of information that can help students to be successful. 7.Look again to the left tabs—and click Course Planner

8.Course Planner allows students to register for the new semester, displays earned grades, determines what courses remain for graduation requirements and provides cluster possibilities.

9. Also, there may be colored dots that provide information– this encourages students to better understand what must be accomplished to take certain classes. Just hover the mouse over the dot to read the notes. 10.Another feature on Course Planner is the Graduation Tracking Tool. It is a visual reminder of courses that have been successfully completed and what remaining courses are needed to fulfill graduation requirements. Check this during the semester.

11. Also, there is no more guessing in identifying what Career Cluster you should choose – or the courses that are needed to fulfill the requirements. Recommended Career Clusters are displayed exclusively for the student based on matchmaker results.

12. When your Career Cluster and career interests are determined…use Career Cruising to explore all possible careers, required education, and also links to community colleges, vocational colleges, and universities that offer those majors. Don’t forget to click on Scholarships and Financial Aid to explore multiple opportunities for funding education.

13.It is important for every student to maintain a record of accomplishments, achievements, hobbies, and volunteer or civic involvement. Again, go to the purple tabs and click on portfolio. Find Resume and click. The Resume Builder maintains middle and high school information that you will need when you begin applying for higher education or the workforce.

14. Do you need help with Study Skills, Test-Taking Strategies, PSAT, ACT, or SAT preparation? It is at your fingertips. Again, go to the purple tabs across the top, click Portfolio. On the left side, find the TCA tab…click it and you will be right there. By the way, TCA stands for Triumph College Admissions.

15. Take your time and develop your skills. It is a great feature of Course Planner that prepares you to do your best on standardized tests.
