7.  Hitler was near defeat  This was Hitler’s last-ditch attempt to push the Allied forces back!  It creates a “bulge” in the Allied lines  Eventually the Allied forces win  Hitler is nearly defeated!

9.  Soviet Union and U.S. marching towards Berlin (capital of Germany)  Hitler knows it’s over  he commits suicide and has his body burned  U.S. and Soviet Union meet together in Berlin  Germany surrenders  End of WWII in Europe  VE Day (Victory in Europe May 7, 1945)
