The Big Three- U.S., Great Britain, and Soviet Union U.S. President: FDR Great Britain: Winston Churchill Soviet Union: Joseph Stalin U.S. and Great Britain will attach from the west (western front) Soviet Union will attack from the east (eastern front)

U.S. Joins the Allies in War The Battle in the Atlantic- Germans were attacking U.S. supply lines- created a convoy system to with destroyer ships with sonar to detect German submarines Battle of Stalingrad- Germany’s defeat and divided forces help the Allies get an upper hand North Africa- U.S. troops fought for months and got German General Erwin Rommel to surrender in May 1943 Italy- Gained control of Sicily and fought Axis forces which lasted until May 1944

Operation Overlord We invade Nazi-occupied France (Storm the beaches of Normandy, France) Try to push the Nazis back to Germany! Greatest military invasion in history! Led by General Eisenhower Lasted over a month but was eventually successful!

Hitler was near defeat This was Hitler’s last-ditch attempt to push the Allied forces back! It creates a “bulge” in the Allied lines Eventually the Allied forces win Hitler is nearly defeated!
