4 Lesson A Running errands  Review “Around the World” (Unit 5) in Book 1; To ask about a specific place: Where’s…, please? Could you tell me where …is, please? Excuse me, how do I walk to … from here? To ask about a place in general: Where can I get a roll of film? Excuse me, where can I post a letter? Do you know where I can leave my luggage? Is there a movie theatre nearby?

5 Verbs Prepositions of place go straight down the street to the corner walk one block on Center Street turn left/right at the next traffic light take the bus/subway to… take a taxi to… Of course there is one,… Sorry, I don’t know. on the corner of the street in the middle of the block between the library and the post office in the park next to the train station right across the café opposite the park in the back of/behind the laundromat

6 Running errands  Make a list of errands you usually do: go grocery shopping take my pet to the veterinarian go to the post office pay gas/electricity/water bills get photos developed return library books/videos/DVDs go to a dentist appointment get a haircut go to the laundromat take a bus home

7 A busy day  Do exercises A and B on Page 127-128;  Phrases like: cut out coupons go to a dentist appointment pick up the dry cleaning unload the groceries leave the car at the garage

8 The present continuous  She is making a grocery list.  She is getting a haircut.  She is unloading the groceries.
