What we will cover…….? Introduction – Why Publish with CAPEA and NCPEA ? Preparing Your Manuscript for Submission Special Directions for Tables and Figures Preparing Your Reference Section Preparing Appendices What if Accepted ?
3
Introduction The NCPEA/CAPEA Partnership World-wide Readership Open Education Resources (OER) Print-on-Demand – PDF Download Author/copyright Protection Impact Factors (CNX Statistics and Google Analytics) Promotion and Tenure Support
4
Preparing for Submission Microsoft Word, size 12 T.N.R., 20-30 double-spaced pages (including Reference Section), APA Prepare with Word Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 Headings (max. 3 levels, 2 preferred) Free to use Italics, Bold, and/or Underline as desired and appropriate
5
Tables and Figures Tables, in all cases, must be formatted with Word Insert Table, and placed in the text at the appropriate location. Manuscripts using tables created by tabs and spaces will be returned to the author. Do not separate tables and figures from the text and do not send them as separate files. Tables MUST NOT have merged or split cells. (example at: http://cnx.org/content/m36746/latest/ http://cnx.org/content/m36746/latest/ Figures must be one complete figure, not made up of multiple shapes and entries. File should be a JPG or PNG type file (example at: http://cnx.org/content/m37094/latest/ http://cnx.org/content/m37094/latest/ Limit the use of tables, figures, and appendices.
6
Reference Section Place the word, References as a Level 1 heading Insert each reference entry as a separate paragraph – in other words, hit a hard return ONLY at the end of each reference Type each entry continuously without a return or use of tabs or spaces Each will be justified left – not to worry Every entry must have something italicized – See APA for guidelines
7
Preparing Appendices Generally, format an Appendix as a table with Word Insert Table Often, an appendix comes from a survey or other instrument – in this case, either reformat as a Table or as a JPG type file Limit the use of Appendices unless absolutely necessary NCPEA Publications reserves the right to place as a PDF link rather than display in the main body of the text
8
What if Accepted? Upon final decision from CAPEA and their notification to NCPEA, we will request that authors set up a Connexions User Account This account is necessary for the publication stage Most importantly, the account is a protection for the individual’s author and copyright roles NCPEA will endorse and sanction manuscript as a significant contribution to the practice and preparation of educational administration and provide a formal letter of acceptance on NCPEA letterhead NCPEA will track readership with both CNX Statistics and Google Analytics, and will supply such data upon author’s request
