About Pula... a city on 7 hills, situated on the southwest coast of the Istrian peninsula area: 5.165 ha (of which 4.150 ha on land and 1.015 ha at sea) population: 57.460 (census 2011.) 8 th largest city in the Republic of Croatia

Pula is more than 3.000 years old the city history begins with the Romans Austro-Hungarian Empire: the main base of the Austrian Navy two most important economic activities are industry - respectively shipbuilding and tourism

Electronic business (e-Business) can be defined as the use of information technologies for business activities City of Pula spent lots of effort to implement new technologies into everyday work Citizens are the center of interest E-Business – partner in intergation process

Pula was the first city in Croatia (2008) to introduce a complete e-Business - SWING system we introduced the electronic circulation of documents among departments of the city administration, with the aim of faster, more accurate and more efficient operations in 2011 the e-Signature was introduced in 2012 the e-Services, e-Accounts and e-Payment slip were introduced in 2012 the e-Kindergarten was introduced in 2013 councilors in the City Council received the tablets

City of Pula is putting a lot of effort in communication with citizens the city administration wants to take advantage of new technologies in order to provide efficient services and encourage citizens to be involved in key decisions concerning the development of Pula The purpose of e-Consultation is including citizens in the decision-making process Citizens can send their comments, opinions and suggestions on the e-consultations form and after the working group of experts process them, citizens get feedback. E-Consultations for the citizens

The City of Pula is a bilingual city – equal use of Croatian and Italian language Mayor of the City of Pula – Pola is Mr. Boris Miletić Deputy mayor of the City of Pula – Pola is Mr. Fabrizio Radin – representative of Italian national minority in Pula The City Council has a president and two deputy presidents – one of them must be representative of the Italian national minority (The Statute of the City of Pula) The City Council has 23 members and two minority representatives - one of the Italian and one of the Serbian minority - „ Italian and Serbian national minorities in Pula have right on one representative in the City Council ” (The Statute of the City of Pula)

Project SAMPLE Strengthening the Administration for Minority People Leads to Equality PROJECT GOALS Additional education of Italian language for employees Encouraging members of Italian minority to use Italian language in the communication with administrative bodies of City of Pula Translation of official documents on Italian language Placement of bilingual traffic signs Translation and placement of bilingual signs in the offices Seminar organization about the legal rights of minorities Today‘s results 70 employees passed the additional education of Italian language Bilingual traffic sings are placed all around the City

Festival of Multiculturalism Traditional event - 9th May in Pula in the Istrian national theatre Festival program - 13 cultural societies and minorities have participated - from Serbia, Bosnia, Hungary, Italy, Albania, Macedonia, Slovakia and Slovenia Minorities presented their artistic creation and tradition Goal of the Festival – promotion of multiculturalism, tolerance and understanding in community

Festival of Serbian culture in Istria Traditional event – every year - 3 days in April Program takes place in 7 Istrian cities – opening ceremony in Pula - Serbian cultural centre All Serbian cultural societies in Pula have participated in that program Cultural societies presented their tradition – theatrical plays, music concerts, serbian films, exhibitions, art shows, etc.

Days of Macedonian culture in Istria City of Pula (Department of Culture) and Macedonian cultural association of St. Cyril and Method organize every year traditional cultural manifestation “Days of Macedonian culture in Istria” – 7th April Macedonian people presented their cultural tradition

Cooperation with China – City of Xiaogana Delegation from China visited Pula in March 2015 Representatives agreed on the future cooperation on areas of tourism, industry and transport infrastructure

Coopereation with China - City of Nanjing Delegation of China visited Pula in April 2013 China representatives agreed on the future cooperation on areas of shipbuilding and culture Delegation of two cities talked about twinning of cities

Twinning cooperation with City of Trier Pula and Trier singed Twinning agreement in 1971. Trier is a German town with similar Roman and military history Both cities encourage cultural colaboration, student exchange and knowledge about history

Twinning coopertion with City of Graz Pula and Graz singed Twinning agreement in 1972. Cooperation on organization of International neurology symposium Colaboration on area of tourism, economy, ecology, heritage and student exchange

Youth Adrinet project project promotes actions finalized to increase the European identity and the active participation in the social life of young people in the multi-cultural and multi-ethnical framework of the Adriatic area Project goals 1.institutional cooperation actions among political actors and young people 2.a model where the principle of an active citizenship for young people finds the right place where to develop and where some specific actions of social integration can take place 3.an advanced methodological approach that includes both a local and a transnational dimension 4.a professional coaching and training process focused on the creation of new possibilities for the employment of the young

in 2011 the City of Pula earned the honorary title "Child Friendly City" which is the highest social recognition to all those who have contributed to the realization of the rights and needs of children that are recognized in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child from all around the world the application e-kindergarten contributed to gain this valuable status City of Pula – Child friendly city
