Would an average player normally have made the play? Was there a physical mistake made on playing the ball itself? If BOTH answers are YES, then it’s an ERROR. (SS vs. 1B – easy digs and all drops are 1B, all others are SS No team errors—mental mistakes are hits) -Was it a HIT or a FIELDER’S CHOICE (FC)? FIELDER’S CHOICE if there is an attempt on another runner HIT if there is indecision on where to go, and NO play is made -Was it a DOUBLE (2B) or a SINGLE (1B) and an advance? Was there a play on another baserunner?? Was there an error on the play before 2B? Did the batter break stride around first? If ALL answers are NO, then it’s a DOUBLE (2B). -Was it a STOLEN BASE (SB), WILD PITCH (WP) or PASSED BALL (PB)? PASSED BALL if catcher should have stopped the pitch. WILD PITCH if catcher had no play. All others are counted as a STOLEN BASE. -Documenting substitutes: Put the inning to include bottom or top and identify their at-bat with their number in the block. Ex. Player came in at the bottom of the 3 rd inning to LF = B3/7 next to the subs name on the line below the player sub’d. NOTE: If game is a blowout, sub early to prevent minimum play violations. If every attempt was made, such as sub in the T3, but game ended in B4 and player had 3 defensive outs and no at-bats requires the player to start the next game and play for 9 consecutive outs and two at-bats. This is due to only 3 defensive outs fulfilled during the 4 inning 10 run rule game. -Protested games are documented in red from the moment a protest is declared. -Rainouts must take the next available make-up day.
