2 Go to http://edina.ac.uk/digimap and click Login

3 Select Geology Digimap

4 You must agree to the terms of use before gaining access to Geology Digimap

5 Select Geology Maps

6 Select a location by place name, postcode or using the map

7 Select from a list of results, when searching by place name

8 Familiar Map Interface

9 Fixed scale maps Control the map content by using the check boxes in the legend Click on the map to get more info about the rock types

10 100 x 100 km view: 1:625,000 –BGS 1:625,000 –Simplified OS Strategi 40 x 40 km view: 1:250,000 –BGS 1:250,000 –OS Strategi 16 x 16 km view: 1:100,000 –BGS 1:250,000 –OS Meridian 8 x 8 km view: 1:50,000 –BGS 1:50,000 –OS 1:50,000 Raster 4 x 4 km view: 1:25,000 –BGS 1:50,000 –OS 1:50,000 Raster data The various map views and the products they use

11 Search the Rock Lexicon by clicking the tab at the top. Click the View Complete Record link to see details for that rock unit

12 Direct access to entries can also be made from more info… links in the Get Rock Info panel Click View Map to see a map of the Rock Unit, where available

13 The map chest stores maps for 5 days. Click on a map or link to generate a GIF image

14 Select Geology Download

15 Select your product and format

16 Search by one of the options or click on the map

17 Choose the tiles you want to download and the layers from those tiles too.

18 Your selections are summarised on the final page Choose your archiving and compression then begin downloading

19 Extensive help pages are available. The menu on the left can be used to navigate them.
