5 Looking Ahead to Senior Year Graduation Requirements: 46 credits-refer to sheet for specifics Course planning for Senior year – CAPP/AP/Transcripted Credit (refer to handout) – 4 th year of Science and Math encouraged – Explore electives – SOE, Youth Apprenticeships, Independent Study – Balance is VERY important for Senior Year! Plan for extra 5 hrs/week of study per AP course.

6 Senior Timeline Events (refer to senior timeline handout)  September Attend National College Fair/ College Rep Visits/Visit Campus Senior Update Meeting Sept. 15- UW Applications first start to be processed.  October-December Oct. 1: Application process starts at WCTC Retake ACT if needed Know your college specific deadline  January -March  Submit your FAFSA as soon as possible after Jan. 1 (Priority deadline March 1)  Attend the Financial Aid Night on Jan. 12 th 6-8 pm in the auditorium  Senior Scholarship Meeting – mid February

7 University Admissions Criteria Transcript (Refer to your personal transcript) – Grade Point Average (GPA) – Class Rank – Rigor ACT or SAT Score – College Admissions Testing ACT vs. SAT – Average Score – 23.5 – March 1 st - all school ACT – Range 1-36 – Writing vs. No-Writing Prep Class Personal Profile – Applicant Statement – Letters of Rec. – Course Selection – Extra-curricular activities

8 Senior Year: When You’re Ready to Apply.. College Application - the easiest way to apply to a school is through their website. – Website links are included in the Family Connections website (refer to UW sheet) UW website – Regular Admission process vs. Common Application process Application Fee - this can be paid online with a credit card or a check (fee waiver) Applicant Statement – Part of application. Be thorough! Transcript – visit http://connection.naviance.com/mfhs to electronically transmit your transcript. Username is student network username - Example: thomjen04 Password is 6 digit numerical student ID - Example: 500104http://connection.naviance.com/mfhs Letters of Recommendation – Give teachers/coaches/employers at least 2 weeks to complete. ACT/SAT Scores – You must contact www.act.org (ACT) or www.collegeboard.com (SAT) to have your official ACT score sent to University or College. MFHS does not send test scores.www.act.orgwww.collegeboard.com ** UW Schools applications open on Sept. 1, can be submitted starting on Sept. 15
