Year 3 and 4 Class Assembly

TASC Wheel GARDENS

What do I know about this? What is the task? How many ideas can I think of? Which is the best idea? Let’s do it? How well did I do it? Let’s tell someone! What have I learned? TASC The TASC Wheel Model

TASC Wheel What is the TASC wheel? Lucy Crossley and Ben Davis “A wheel that helps you go through things bit by bit”

TASC Wheel What is the TASC wheel? Ryan Powar and Gemma Moore “You go round and round the TASC wheel but you don’t have to go all the way round you can go backwards and forwards” “The TASC wheel can be used for anything, like science”

TASC Wheel What is the TASC wheel? Phoebe Bassett and Abby Faulkner “It is a wheel that helps you with an activity because it is in a good order to do the activity in” “If there is something that you can’t do you can go back round the wheel to ‘how many ideas can I think of’, for example, to help you solve a problem”

TASC Wheel How have we been using the TASC wheel? Lucy Crossley and Ben Davis “We have been working our way around the TASC wheel” Edward Davies, Cristina Carreno, Olivia Woolham and Lucy Crossley “We have been using the wheel to make planning a garden easier. The wheel makes planning easier because it has different words and instructions, all the way around it, which help you understand how you are supposed to put all the different ideas that you have in your brain together”

TASC Wheel Stephane Morris and Zoe Powar First we… “Did the gathering and organising. We gathered as much information as we could about gardens. We did a mind map to show our first ideas and we saw lots of pictures on the computer. At home we used the computer, magazines, books and our brains to gather more information”

TASC Wheel What is a mind map?

TASC Wheel Coral Hedges and Jack Redding Next we… “Made a garden on the computer putting plants, a pond, decking, an umbrella and a barbeque in it. Then we designed our own garden but we had to know what the task was first. The task was to design and make a garden of our own but it had to have a quiet area. We used all sorts of different materials to design our gardens like chalks, pencils, crayons, pens etc.”

TASC Wheel Georga Young, Mia Johnson and Shannon Sadler Then we… “We designed 2 or 3 different gardens to help us when we are making our gardens. We had to then choose our best design this could be one design or a bit of each of them. When we had chosen our design we wrote a list of what we would need to make our garden. Then we took the list home and tried to collect all the materials we needed”

TASC Wheel Making Callum Stonard, Richard Prinsloo, Annabel Moorcroft “When we came to school on Tuesday we brought in our materials and found any others we needed and set them out on our tables. Then we started MAKING. We used things like yoghurt pots, trays, water, sand, stones, lollipop sticks, plasticine etc”

TASC Wheel What have I learned? Ryan Powar “I learnt that when you are making a model it isn't as easy as it looks because when you are making things you find it tricky. Like when you are putting bark on top of the plasticine you have to get it the right shape and that was difficult”

TASC Wheel What have I learned? Mia Johnson “I have learnt that there are many different things that can go in a garden. I know this because of the work that I did at home when I was on the computer. I looked at lots of pictures of gardens”

TASC Wheel What have I learned? Gemma Moore “I learnt that when you make something it is not going to be perfect. You might make mistakes and it might be different to the plan that you drew”

TASC Wheel What have I learned? Sydney Kempson Smith “I learnt that when you are working it is good to have a little look at someone else's work to get more ideas”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Jasmine Norton “I made a very good job of my garden, I was pleased with my garden because people in year 5 and 6 said it was good”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Callum Stonard “I think I did really well despite not following my plan completely. I ended up making a very good garden”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Lucy Brown “I think I did very well in the TASC wheel challenge because I did made most of my design and I didn’t have to take away lots of things in the plan”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Gemma Moore “I think that my model is overcrowded but I like the bit where the decking is because it has lots of room”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Stephane Morris “I did very well because I followed my plans that I drew”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Alice Beasley “I followed my plan and did exactly the same as what I had designed and I made it look even better by putting a lot of animals in it and I made it look as if it was real”

TASC Wheel How well did I do? Jon Grieve “I did very well and I followed my plan instructions”

TASC Wheel Evaluate Poppy O’shaughnessy and Ricky Hutchins “We had stuff that we thought we might use but we didn’t have to use it all because we thought of other ways to make it”

TASC Wheel Lucy Brown “I told my Mum about the TASC wheel day and said what we did was make a garden out of all sorts of different gardens. We planned our designs, 3 of them and had to choose the best” Samantha Bamford Baines “I told my Mum my Nana and my Auntie. I phoned my Nana and my Auntie to tell them how much I had enjoyed making the garden. I told them how I made the garden”

TASC Wheel Look at our some of our gardens

TASC Wheel Poppy O’Shaugnessy and Annabel Moorcroft We didn’t want to go out to play because we were having so much fun. Everyone was sharing the materials that they had brought in and in the spare time we helped each other to make the parts of the model that were hard. The day was excellent!
