1.) Write an equation for the line containing the following: y-intercept of 6 and has a slope of ¼. 2.) Find the x-intercept and y-intercept of 4x + 2y = 20. 3.) Identify the form of the line for each equation: a.) 6x-3y = 12 b.) y = ⅓x -4 c.) y–3 = 4(x-1) 4.) Write an equation for the line containing the following points: (2,6) and (-4,12). 5.) (ACT Type) Given the linear equations 2m – 5 = 19 and 18 – 3n = 3, what is the sum of m and n?

Lesson 1.5 Scatter Plots and Least Squares Lines

 I’ll be after school today.  Test Corrections, remediation packet.  Re-Test in test makeup room.

Create a scatter plot and draw an informal inference about any correlation between the variables. Use a graphing calculator to find an equation for the least-squares line and use it to make predictions of estimates.

A scatter plot below uses the above data with the calculus midterm score on the Y-axis and SAT score on the X-axis. Scatter Plot of the Test scores We can see that the scatter plots can be useful to find any relationship that may exist among the data. Also, the scatter plots are helpful in analyzing the data and the errors in the linear regression analysis can be found easily.
