CAWST Exists Because… There is a huge global need –Billions of poor people are getting sick from drinking unsafe water. Better water and sanitation is fundamental to… –Public health –Education –Poverty reduction

CAWST A Canadian Non Profit Engineering Consultancy Founding concept: Professional training and consulting in water and sanitation for the poor could spark NGOs and government agencies into action on this issue. India

Our Strategies Make knowledge about water “common knowledge”. Build the capacity of public sector organizations. Focus on household water treatment. Lead with education and training. Identify barriers to implementation of water and sanitation and ways to overcome them.

What We Do Provide services to client organizations which enable them to take independent action in household water treatment. –Subsidized training –Open source materials –Technical consulting CAWST neither builds nor funds projects; rather trains other organizations to implement their own projects.

Increasing Reach and Leverage Since 2001, clients have started projects in 58 Countries 52,000 people were trained by client organizations in the past year using CAWST’s training materials. 80% of those were women and children Countries in which clients operate

Consistent Results To June 2009, our clients helped 3 million people to gain access to better water and sanitation. 1 million people benefitted from clients’ Household Water Treatment programs in the past year. This represents a 45% increase over the previous year. 195 client organizations are currently implementing projects. Number of People Impacted by Clients
