“Therefore I Will Not Be Afraid” Scripture Reading 1 A psalm of David. When he fled from his son Absalom. O LORD, how many are my foes! How many rise up against me! (Psalm 3:1, NIV)

“Therefore I Will Not Be Afraid” 2 Many are saying of me, “God will not deliver him.” Selah 3 But you are a shield around me, O LORD; you bestow glory on me and lift up my head. (Psalm 3:2-3, NIV)

“Therefore I Will Not Be Afraid” POSSIBLE BACKGROUND TO PSALM 3 This is the first Psalm with a heading, and one of only 13 that are linked to a specific incident in the life of David. “A Psalm of David when he fled from his son Absalom.”

“Therefore I Will Not Be Afraid” Conclusion David’s confidence in God was based on his belief in God’s “covenant faithfulness.” We should learn from David’s confidence in God.

“Therefore I Will Not Be Afraid” No matter what happens, we must not ever: Doubt God’s faithfulness to the covenant. Forsake our faithfulness to the covenant.
