Aristotle 384BC - 322BC Greek philosopher and scientist, Aristotle, in the 4 th century BC, recorded in his book of science, Meteorology, some of the very first recorded Zoological classification. Among the many observation about the Earth and the environment, Aristotle separated living things into plants and animal. He also placed animals in groups based on if they walked on land, flew, or swam.

Carl Linnaeus Carl Linnaeus May 23, 1707 – Jan. 10, 1778 Swedish zoologist, botanist, naturalist, explorer and physician. Developed a uniform system for naming all organisms.
