The MOSS system is comprised of 4 different types of Vikoma Skimmer packaged together in a customised container to allow easy and flexible recovery of oil at a spill site. The main power source is a lightweight diesel hydraulic power unit that is transportable in two parts.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 MOSS Skimmer System Components Komara Mini Oil Skimmer The Komara 20 skimmer combines a recovery rate of up to 20 tonnes per hour dependant on various criteria including oil viscosity, temperature, slick thickness, sea state etc. with very low free water pickup, which under normal conditions is less than 2% of the recovered volume.

8. Oil recovery solutions since 1967 MOSS Skimmer System Components Komara Brush Duplex Skimmer The Komara Duplex is highly versatile and can be used as either a disc skimmer or a brush skimmer. The skimmer can be used to pick up oil with viscosity 5cSt – 15,000cSt. The maximum disc recovery rate is achieved at 2-3000cSt with very low free water pickup (typically less than 2%). The brush can extend the range, allowing oil of higher viscosity to be recovered. The skimmer can be converted from discs to brushes or vice-versa in the field in less than 2 minutes. Recovery rates of up to 14 tonnes per hour can be achieved.

9. Oil recovery solutions since 1967 MOSS Skimmer System Components Weir Skimmer This is a floating weir skimmer with a capacity of 10 tonnes per hour. Ideally suited to picking up light oils, the unit weighs only 8kg and comes complete with a 2” discharge hose.

Oil recovery solutions since 1967 MOSS Skimmer System Components Vikoma Delta Weir Skimmer Constructed of aluminum with closed cell buoyancy, the semi-circular head of the Delta skimmer is a robust, lightweight, maintenance free floating suction head coupled to a discharge pipe, complete with hose floats.

The floating pump can be operated close to a skimmer providing enhanced performance due to reduced suction hose length. The unit comprises of a hydraulic motor driving a positive displacement pump via a non-slip toothed drive belt. The pump outlet is fitted with a fluid trap to eliminate problems with dry-running. The whole system is secured in a frame to protect it from damage and aid handling. Hydraulic QRCs on both ends and internal piping enables hydraulic power for a skimmer to be routed through the unit to a floating skimmer.

The Powerpack is an ideal solution for provide power for the MOSS system. The engine module is the same as used in the Vikoma Mini Vac.
