Abe's Childhood Lincoln was born on an American frontier in a log cabin in Kentucky. At seven years old Abe moved to Indiana with his family. His family was as comfortable as most of their neighbors, and Abe was well fed and clothed. Abe's mother died in 1818, when he was nine. A year later, his father married Sara Bush Johnston, a widow. Abe's new step mother had three of her own children and brought them with her to the Lincolns' cabin.

Abraham Lincoln (1809-1865 )was the 16 th president of the USA (1861- 1865 ).He was a Republican.Born in Kentucky and brought up in the backwoods of Indiana, he taught himself law, entered Congress ( 1847 ), and fought against slavery. He fought the resulting Civil War ( 1861-1865 ) to save the Union, and set slaves free(1863 ).Unfortunately he was murdered by John Wilkes Booth, a Southern fantastic.

Gettysburg Address Abraham Lincoln On Nov. 19, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln delivered what has become the best-known speech in American history in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania,site of the important battle field during the American Civil War. There's a famous saying by Lincoln, "government of the people, by the people, by the people and for the people."
