Equations Word Problems For all of the following, guess and check or estimate, then model the situation using an equation, and solve.

Alex belongs to a music club. In this club, students can buy a student discount card for $19.95. This card allows them to buy CDs for $3.95 each. After one year, Alex has spent $63.40. Write and solve an equation to find how many CDs Alex bought during the year.

ABC mall charges 3,000 LL for the first 2 hours of parking, and then an additional 1,000 LL for every extra hour. If you were charged 8,000 LL, how many hours have you spent at ABC?

Stan’s, Mark’s and Wayne’s ages are consecutive whole numbers. Stan is the youngest, and Wayne is the oldest. The sum of their ages is 111. Find their ages.
