Why partner notification is important Partner notification is important for two reasons: It reduces the chances of your patients becoming re-infected – over 60% of partners of a positive client will also be positive. It limits the chances of your patient passing on the infection to someone else.

4. Why partner notification is important PN routinely takes place in specialist sexual health clinics and Chlamydia Screening services. It is more than just informing a client of the need for their partner to be treated. It is an opportunity to identify: - current and past partners who may need testing and treatment, - agreeing the process for how that will occur, - ascertaining the success by monitoring the results and treatment compliance of clients.

5. Introduction to the webtool The webtool is an online partner notification referral system You can to refer your patients quickly, easily and confidentially to a specialist service who will support your patients to notify their partners. It is built to NHS security standards It is also a patient management system for specialised services and monitors PN outcomes and patient compliance

6. How the webtool can help you It is quick and easy to make a referral You know that your patient is being offered support rather than relying on your patient to seek help themselves Your patient is less likely to require repeat treatment Your patient is less likely to return with complications caused by untreated chlamydia

How the webtool can help your patients An expert will help and support your patients to contact their partners If your patient doesn’t want to notify partners themselves, the PM team will offer do this for them The PM team can provide more information to your patient about their diagnosis and refer them for further treatment if required

8. Demo, role play and a chance to try it out We have made a video which demonstrates how to use the webtool. We have included a simulated role play which suggests how you might introduce a referral during a consultation.
