Claim/Thesis Statements What is the formula for a strong claim/thesis statement?

Topic + Opinion + Reasons (3)

Analyzing Claim/Thesis Statements  The best restaurant in Lincoln is Valentino’s because they have a lot of choices, you can eat all you want, and on Tuesday for every adult 2 kids get in free.  Runza is the best restaurant in Lincoln because it is local to Nebraska, the food is always hot and fresh, and you get dessert for only a dollar.

Analyzing Claim/Thesis Statements  The best restaurant in Lincoln is Grateful Bread because all their food is homemade, they have a different selection everyday, it’s a family run business, it’s not expensive, they have a ton of different kinds of soups and sandwiches.  The best restaurant in Lincoln is Mongolian Grill because you actually get seated by Mongolians, the music is peaceful and relaxing, and there are many food choices so it’s hard to be picky. The smell of the facility is absolutely glorious. After a hot, healthy meal there is a complimentary dessert.

Analyzing Claim/Thesis Statements  I believe humans rely on their instinct because in my opinion, I think smarter people reason, but if it’s in the moment, they must trust their instinct.  We humans rely more on our ability to reason. Reasoning can save your life, can make you have less problems, and can help you be positive about yourself.  We rely more on instinct than our ability to reason. I think this because we are based on automatic decision making, we usually only have one chance in decisions, and it takes a little less thought to go by your mental instincts.

Analyzing Claim/Thesis Statements  Humans rely on Reason more than do we Instinct. Because reason is behind everything we do. Also because reason helps explain things better. And last reason motivates us.
