10. 1 rst medium beta cavity: Frequency and length are close to expected values: F= 703,93 MHz after tuning L= 1257.5 mm (-1mm from nominal length) Most dangerous HOM identified At delta F >17MHz from the 5 th beam line TE like modes (not dangerous, very weakly coupled to the beam) Forbidden area (+/- 5 MHz) for longitudinal HOMs Field flatness done before and after1rst chemical treatment: 95% achieved (green curve). 1 rst chemical treatment done: ~ 100µm Observations: Strong heterogeneity of the attack speed between equators (~40µm) and irises (~200µm) The acid temperature increased up to 25°C (a better control of T is required). HOM issue : no risk for this cavity Cavity as received: the most dangerous HOM is at ~17MHz from the 5 th beam line (spec > 5MHz) The frequency shifts due to field flatness and 1 rst chemical treatment doesn’t cause any problem Release for the fabrication of the 5 last Mbeta cavities: Start the second cavity fabrication : beginning of week 6 Start the 4 last cavities after vertical test of the 1 rst cavity Test in vertical cryostat on Week 7 M-ECCTD Impact on the M-ECCTD planning: analysis in progress

11. P Power couplers: Ceramic windows (Toshiba): Factory acceptance of the 2 first ceramic windows. Delivery week W4. External conductors: fabrication completed, last operation is copper deposition. Copper coating in progress in the final tubes. Delivery scheduled begining of February. Copper coating not yet done Rectangular samples Cylindrical sample H-beta prototype cavities: Q degradation after heat treatment New tests in vertical cryostat done after improvement of the magnetic shielding : very small effect on the Q. The hypothesis of a pollution during the heat treatment process is the most probable Qualification of copper coating on samples: OK (RRR=35)

13. 13 4 TH OF FEBRUARY 2016 Production of the main components and the toolings is in progress The ESS BÔTH is being equiped (cryomodule assembling outside the cleanroom) The vacuum chamber, space frame should be installed with assembling toolings before the end of february ……… Alignment of the rails used for the insertion of the cavity string inside the vacuum tank.

17. 17 4 TH OF FEBRUARY 2016 The 2 technical notes are finalized ESS-0049766 ESS-0049765 RFQ DESIGN COMPLETED The Project #4 can be closed The second CDR for the RFQ was conducted in Saclay on December 8 th and 9 th. This review focused on the manufacturing of the five cavity sections, the power coupler and slug tuners. The review was passed successfully and the call for tender was launched on Friday 18 December.
