2 Employee “One-a-Day” Customer Intercept Tool Many customers have heard of NuVal –TV ads, print advertising, etc. –However, once in the store, many customers focus on shopping and forget to check scores When the score is pointed out to customers, most say they will start using it to trade up for nutrition –Even those that were not previously aware 2

3 Employee “One-a-Day” Customer Intercept Tool 3 If just 30 associates a day each reached out to just one customer to assess their awareness/usage of the NuVal system… More than 10,000 shoppers a year would be reminded to use the NuVal system in just that one store. This only takes a couple of minutes per intercept.

4 Employee “One-a-Day” Customer Intercept Tool This tool can help in several ways: Will increase customer awareness –Leads to increased adoption of the NuVal system and customer loyalty to Retailer Keeps the NuVal System top-of-mind for the employee as well as the in-store guests –If employees use the NuVal Scores personally, they will be better ambassadors to others –Healthier employees will be more productive and will lower healthcare costs for themselves and the retailer 4

5 Employee “One-a-Day” Customer Intercept Tool: Procedure for employees (some retailers use interns) Each designated employee will intercept one customer a day in the store Employee to ask shopper if they know what that “number” is on the shelf-tag (or sign) –If yes: Ask them how they became aware of it Ask them if they are using it –If not using, ask “do you mind if I ask why not?” –If no: Give the customer a brochure or information card for a high level explanation 5

7 Optional Employee “One-a-Day” Customer Intercept Tracking Tool: This tracking tool helps in several ways: Retailer will gain insight into: –Current customer awareness –Current adoption –Tactics that are working –Can be used as an incentive for intercepts compliance: have a periodic “drawing” from all the employee tracking tool responses for a store gift card, etc. 7
