Experiment 2 Mendel wanted to know what happened to the short allele in the F1 generation. Mendel crossed two hybrid tall plants in the F1 generation. The results of the F2 generation: – ¾ of the plants were tall – ¼ of the plants were short Mendel was surprised the short allele reappeared in the F2 generation. Mendel’s Experiments

Principle of Segregation: – For each gene you have at least two different alleles. – Only one allele can be passed on to sperm or egg cells. – Each offspring receives only one allele from each parent.
