14 Cato III Information & Timeline The Cato III Building provides critically needed academic and workforce training space at CPCC’s most crowded campus. The 85,000 square-foot building increases the campus’ overall space by 85 percent. This is CPCC’s first building to use energy-saving LED lighting throughout. Project Start Date – May 20, 2014 (work on new parking area began Feb. 19, 2014) Cost of Project – $24.5 million Source of Funding – 2013 Mecklenburg County bonds Project Manager – Rodgers Builders Architect – Little Diversified Architectural Consulting Number of Classrooms – 36 full-size classrooms and five seminar rooms New Cato Campus Library – approximately 4,000 square feet Auditorium seating 130 Multipurpose and student lounge space overlooking wooded creek area Number of offices – 20 individual offices plus a touchdown suite with eight workstations

15 Cato III Information & Timeline (continued) Programs Based in Cato III: American Sign Language and Interpreter Education College and Career Readiness, including GED and ESL Other Building Project Features include: Patty and Bill Gorelick Art Gallery located in first floor lobby Ground Floor auditorium, student lounge, multipurpose room and Student Life Center, plus a Horticulture Design Studio Rodgers Amphitheater and outdoor gathering space 150-foot pedestrian bridge connecting new parking area and main campus Bridge spans and leaves undisturbed a creek and wooded wetland vegetation area Two electric vehicle charging stations Water bottle filling station on every floor Two family restrooms and a quiet room for students, faculty, staff who need privacy Addition to Horticulture Program facility of 1,984 square feet provides a small engine repair shop and plant preparation space

17 Still in Progress …. Barnes and Noble Bookstore Expansion to be completed during Spring Break: food and beverages will be available in Cato II Science Lab is being updated in Cato I In Cato I, the Paralegal Library and old ASL lab are being renovated to provide a study space in the Library and an intake and orientation space for First Year Experience and ESS Cato will have a Center for Military Families and Veterans with soft opening scheduled for early April. In Cato II, the old library is being converted into a Math Emporium The entrance to Cato I has been made more accessible.

18 What’s next Increase the number of transfer and general education classes offered at Cato so that Cato students won’t need to go elsewhere to complete their degrees Prepare for Cato Middle College students who will remain for a 13 th year of CPCC classes Expand CCE offerings Prepare for the next phase: Cato IV as part of the College long range planning for 2018 bonds
