EQ: How do you display, analyze, and interpret data in a box-and-whisker plot? Box-and-whisker plot Upper Extreme Lower Extreme Median A diagram that summarizes data by showing how data are distributed within a set of numbers. The greatest number The least number The middle value of a data set that is in ordered from least to greatest.

Upper Quartile Lower Quartile Median of the upper half of the data set. Median of the lower half of the data set EQ: How do you display, analyze, and interpret data in a box-and-whisker plot?

Steps Step 1: Order your data (numbers) from least to greatest. Step 2: Find the MEDIAN of all the numbers. Step 3: Cover up your median and find the median of the lower set of numbers. That will be your LQ Step 4: Cover your up median again, and find the median of the upper set of numbers. That will be your UQ Step 5: Find the least number from your data set. That is your LE Step 6: Find the greatest number from you data set. That is your UE. Step 7: Now draw a number line. Step 8: Find a consistent interval that will apply to your data and write your scale on your number line. Step 9: Plot your LE, UE, LQ, UQ, and median on your number line. Step 10: Now draw your box-and-whisker plot over your plotted numbers.
