National Careers Service Inspiration Programme HML and Learn with Aegis Caroline Plum
12
Background HML is a financial services company mainly dealing in third party mortgage administration Aegis is the recognised trade union for HML Aegis runs a Unionlearn Project within HML and other financial sector companies Unionlearn is a government funded initiative to encourage people to take up learning opportunities which aid their personal and professional development Last September I was tasked by HML’s Head of HR to find out about Work Experience and how HML could bring this into the company and build relationships with local education providers
13
Next Steps Where to start? Invited to a Unionlearn Representatives Meeting in Leeds in October 2015 The National Careers service gave a talk at this meeting which helped me make a connection between Work Experience and the National Careers Service Following the meeting I looked at the website and through the contact facility asked if they could help me with my Work Experience Enquiry
14
National Careers Service Angela contacted me following my website enquiry and we arranged to meet Went through what I was looking for Discussed Rules and Regulations around Work Experience Angela left me with information to read and would provide me with a contact for a local school Following this Angela asked if I would be willing to host a meeting for local schools and colleges to set up a Craven Careers Network The Craven Careers Network meeting was held on 2 nd February and was agreed this would be held once a term Since built relationship with South Craven School
