Lesson R.1 Rounding When rounding a number, look at the digit to the right of the place to which you are rounding. If the digit is 5 or greater, round up. If the digit is less than 5, round down. Round 2 391 437 to the nearest thousand. First find the thousands place Look one digit to the right The number is less than 5, so round down 2 391 000
