5. The climate of the marine biome is mostly varied. Since it is the largest biome in the world, the climate varies from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to over 100 degrees. The average temperature is 39 degrees Fahrenheit but it is warmer near the equator where the direct rays of sun can pierce the water and warm it. The coldest is in the north and south poles, where the water is close to freezing if not frozen (Glaciers). Also, the deeper the ocean is, the colder the water will be because the sunlight isn't directly piercing it. The weather of the marine biome is very harsh, due to the ocean currents. These ocean currents create massive hurricanes and typhoons. Another role in the weather of the marine biome is the wind. The wind over the ocean creates large waves. Influence of Climate on Life Although the climate can be extreme, it has a surprisingly little effect on life. Most life forms have adapted to the ocean. Some life forms use the currents as a form of transportation. Plants have adapted to places deep in the ocean where sunlight doesn't reach. Over all, the life forms in the sea have adapted so that the climate doesn't effect them.

6. Kelp forests occur in cold, nutrient-rich water and are among the most beautiful and biologically productive habitats in the marine environment. They are found throughout the world in shallow open coastal waters, and the larger forests are restricted to temperatures less than 20ºC, extending to both the Arctic and Antarctic Circles. A dependence upon light for photosynthesis restricts them to clear shallow water and they are rarely much deeper than 15-40m. The kelps have in common a capacity for some of the most remarkable growth rates in the plant kingdom. In southern California, the Macrocytic can grow 30 cm per day.

There are three ways that sharks are born: eggs are laid (like birds) eggs hatch inside the mother and then are born pups sharks grow inside the mother (like humans) Sharks can have from 1 to 100 babies at a time, depending on the type of shark. The ones with pups that grow inside the mother have fewer babies at a time than sharks that lay eggs outside the body. Sharks do not care for their babies after they are born, but they do search for a safe place where they can lay their eggs or give birth.

13. If we're going to talk about the bull shark's diet, we need to break it up into the freshwater menu and the saltwater menu. When ocean-bound, bulls eat bony fish, stingrays, dolphins, sea turtles, other sharks, mollusks, crustaceans and all kinds of other schooling fish. They hunt alone, instead of in groups, and although they appear slow as they troll the ocean floor, they're known for their agility and quick bursts of speed -- up to 11 miles per hour.
