New Technologies in Mining – Production of LNG Ing. Josef Němec "Underground In The Cloud"

The most important activity in light of safety in coal mines Seams with mine gas (CH4) are degased Underground degassing is a complex of activities and devices which are used for intended and controlled pumping of methan from a seam surrounding rocks or free space and following isolated draining-out gaseous mixture from degassing sources in coal mine through gas conduit Main tasks of degazation are: Securing of running undergrounds Mining out of accumulating damp in already worked-out and closed areas Mining out of mine gas from ascertained resource place in the whole face working area (or in its surrounding)

Realising of methan occures during mining of coal seam from coal measures Methan drainage is done for safe face advancing using degassing boreholes placed across either to coal roof or to seat rock of the the dug seat Borehole of the length 50-70 m are drilled on the side of air gates in a distance 40-60 m Degassing boreholes are connected with common degassing pipeline leading to the degassing station "Underground In The Cloud"

liquefied natural gas – LNG is natural gas under big pressure refrigerated on very low temperature When is natural gas refrigerated to -161° C it is becoming a clear liquid without colour, taste and smell LNG contains only 1/600 from the volume of natural gas in faseous state According to International Energy Agency the worldwide capacity of LNG production will rise from current 370 z dnešních 370 billions cubic metres in a year to 540 billions "Underground In The Cloud"

LNG is utilized in power supply, drive of: agricultural machines, buses, trains (Burlington Northern) and even ship (e.g.Glutra ferry in Norway) Fluidification of natural gas is a sophisticated technological process Firstly: water, sulphid, CO 2 and other adulterants are removed from natural gas, thereafter we can fluidify natural gas by cooling down to -162 °C using atmospheric pressure Despite high production costs and complicated storage in special cryogenic reservior cooled by liquid nitrogen the uitilization of LNG is sharply rising "Underground In The Cloud"

attractive is fact that LNG contains only 1/600 of primar gas amount This fact allows consumers to diversify purchase worldwide and gives them possibilty of higher flexibilty in case of consuption LNG is transported on seawyas by ship with double-hull with specially produced reservoirs "Underground In The Cloud"

LNG is transported by tank cars (trains) or by simillarly adapted cisterns LNG is gasyfied by gradual heating in the destination Scheme of typical construction of LNG reservoir "Underground In The Cloud"

LNG is considered to be the most promising motor fuel Its utilization is sharply developing, some terminals are built in China, Japan, Europe and in the USA Gazprom is interested in its developement which builds some terminals for delivering to Europe and Japan LNG has been delivered by ship to France and Spain "Underground In The Cloud"

The USA have announced they would build two terminals for LNG export to Europe Polish company Solbus has already started production of buses using LNG In the Czech Republic is neither interest nor a customer At least one gas station would necessary (close to Prague) – then freight cars could use this ecologic and cheap fuel "Underground In The Cloud"

Japanes company Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) has completed the developement of container ship using LNG drive the ship is able to transport 9000 freight containers the ship is a hybrid – using LNG as well as diesel

Only CNG is used in transportation in the Czech Republic b ut it is not suitable for freight cars At present 5,500 vehicles uses CNG as fuel, 47 fuel stations have been built Till 2020: 400,000 vehicles should use CNG as fuel (based on the agreement between state and gas companies) It is a question how many vehicles will use otázkou LNG "Underground In The Cloud"

Utilization of degassed gas mixture in the OKD : The only one subscriber of all disponible production from the system of the coal mine degassing is Green Gas DPB Company from Paskov Green Gas subscribes gas from all OKD coal mines to their pipeline system for future utilization by their trade partners or for their own utilization in energy sources
