Course Beginning April 2006 as part of the NJIT GGI (graduate growth initiative) Interdisciplinary coordination and collaboration Part of collaborative certificate program along with “Physical and Digital Counterterrorism” (UG) and “Information Assurance and Network Security”

Interdisciplinary Expertise IS –One of ~ 20 ABET accredited programs in US –Co-founder of ISCRAM (information systems for crisis response and management) –Research focus in emergency response management information systems CS –Network security, cyber infrastructure –Transaction monitoring

Core Courses Three required core courses –IS 613 Design of Emergency Management Information Systems –IS 614 Command and Control Systems (3) –Mgmt 616/IS 616 Learning Methodologies and Training Technologies

Electives Four electives from the following set of courses specifically related to the area of Emergency Management and Business Continuity. This may include a master's project or thesis. –EvSc 625/IS 617 Social Dimensions of Risk –EvSc 616 Toxicology for Engineers and Scientists –CE 602 Geographic Information Systems (GIS) –Mgmt 612 Principles of Emergency Management (NJIT approval pending) –IS 615 Improvisation in Emergency Management –IS 687 Transaction Mining and Fraud Detection

Other Courses Three graduate level courses in the student's original undergraduate degree area or an academic area that he or she would be accepted into based upon their undergraduate degree program. The specialty areas currently include: –Information Systems –Environmental Science and Chemistry –Civil Engineering and Transportation –Management –Computer Engineering –Computer Science

Project or Thesis –Master's project (two courses) or Masters Thesis (two courses)

Where are we??? Program started Spring semester 2007 Currently 35 MS students taking the first core course as well as the transaction mining and fraud detection course Students from Port Authority, NJ State, Bureau of Public Utilities, internal MS switch-overs, undergrad carry-overs Developing an Exec MS in HLS
