NEW TRENDS IN AUTOMOBILE AIR CONDITIONING

INTRODUCTION WHAT IS AIR CONDITIONING?  Cooling and dehumidification  Cooling, heating, ventilation or disinfection. WHAT IS AUTOMOBILE AIR CONDITIONING ?  Very common.  Defogging  Active safety factor.

WHAT IS REFRIGERANT?  Compound used in a heat cycle.  Chlorofluorocarbons were used.  Presently, R134a is used as refrigerant.

AIR CONDITIONING WORKING CYCLE

Refrigerant Circuit 1.Compressor 2.Electromagnetic coupler 3.Condenser 4.Accessory fan 5.Refrigerant cartridge with safety device and drying pad 6.Evaporator 7.Evaporator fan, 8.Expansion valve

Ventilation Circuit 1.Fresh air valve 2.Internal circulation valve 3.Air mixing chamber 4.Ventilator 5.Air filter 6.Evaporator 7.Heater 8.Windshield defroster outlets valve 9.Central duct valve 10.Leg outlet valve 11.Anterior outlet valve 12. Side outlet valve

NEED TO CHANGE….. Very long atmospheric lifetimes Effects -  Global Warming  Ozone Depletion  Infectious Diseases

ALTERNATIVE REFRIGERANTS  AMMONIA ( NH 3 )  HYDROGEN ( H 2 ) CARBONDIOXIDE ( CO 2 )

ADVANTAGES OF CO 2 OVER R134a  Natural refrigerant.  Non-toxic.  Non-flammable.

Analysis of Air Conditioning Systems Operating with CO 2 and R134a

ISSUES CONCERNING THE DESIGN  Mechanical impact/temperature.  Direct internal pressure.

 Overall comfort.  Revolutionary change. CONCLUSION
