OBJECTIVE To find natural frequency and mode shapes mathematically using 2,3,4,5 mass system and also experimentally find the same. To apply effective damping method and analyze the result theoretically.
3
METHODOLOGY Theoretical calculations for 2 mass and 3 mass system. Mathematical Modeling and finding natural frequency using MATLAB. Modelling using pro-e and Simulation using ANSYS. Experimental analysis. Damping of Vibrations.

LITERATURE SURVEY 6/12/2016 4 TRANSIENT AND STEADY STATE DYNAMIC BEHAVIOUR OF SINGLE CYLINDER COMPRESSORS: PREDICTION AND EXPERIMENTS: Effect of fluctuation of crankshaft angular velocity on the compressor response is found. Vibration level of compressor depends on angular position of crankshaft at electronic switch off. Dynamics Analysis: Two piezo resistive accelerometers, first one attached to side of crank case and the second one is positioned between discharge mufflers. It gives acceleration in X and Y direction. Two absolute pressure transducer, first one connected to gas charge pipe and second one connected to cylinder through capillary hole. Copper Constantine thermo couple is used to measure temperature. Prediction could be improved by better knowledge of driven torque, pressure diagram and frictional co-efficient of slider-crank mechanism,

LITERATURE SURVEY 6/12/2016 5 VIBRATION ANALYSIS OF RECIPROCATING COMPRESSORS. By Steven M.Schultbeis, Bentley Nevada corporation. Following a time domain graph of displacement would be clearer than to have a frequency based one Vibration tends to also change with periodic forces acting on the piston and also due to change in stiffness of compressor body The vibration occurs synchronous with crank shaft rotation and can be effectively monitored with velocity transducer mounted on cylinder head. In some installation the transducer is mounted on the cross heads at 45 degree angle in the plane of the piston motion, to detect both vertical and cylinder stretch motion with one transducer. Bearing faults and wear are best determined by using proximity probes to measure crankshaft displacement relative to main bearing or by measuring bearing temperature. Path described by shaft center line it vibrates is generally equal to bearing clearance

MODES OF VIBRATION Free Vibration - Undamped vibration (Natural frequency & mode shapes) - Damped vibration Forced Vibration - Undamped Vibration - Damped Vibration

Types of Vibrations Longitudinal Vibration Transverse Vibration Torsional Vibration
11
Longitudinal and transverse vibrations are found in cylinder by lumping crankshafts as single mass. By lumping, problem is reduced to only two forms of vibration or torsion vibration has to be taken into consideration.
