2 Construction of infrastructure is supervised by Public Works Department Engineers and monitored by the Headmaster of Vidyalaya, School Management Development Committee and School Civil works committee. Using of advanced project management tools like MS Project for adhering to timeliness of the project Testing of products used in construction in the certified labs Third party Inspection by SVNIT, Surat professors to ensure quality of construction Inspection by Education committee of local bodies to ensure quality of construction. Regular progress reviewed by Collector, Dy. Collector, Chief Executive Officer (DP), Chief Officer (DMC)

3 Who Actually Constructed The Toilets ? Transparency Total 44 schools – 19 Primary, 12 Upper Primary, 6 secondary, 5 higher secondary All school building have separate Toilet Blocks for Girls and Boys Toilet construction by Public Works Department, District Panchayat and Municipal Council. e-tendering process for transparency Display boards of particulars like Executive Agency, Cost of construction, date of starting work and date of completion of work Awareness is created in the public & elected members of local bodies Work is publicized in the local media and local public are invited for the inauguration of work

4 All works are completed within time limit Monitoring is also done at Collectorate level Secretary (Education) inspect progress of work The Development Commissioner review the progress of work time to time. The Hon’ble Administrator visits vidyalaya where works are under progress.

5 Dedicated sweepers and cleaners are deployed in every school for cleanliness Brooms, Mops, Phenyl, Buckets, Tumbler, Soap are provided Time to time Swachhata Abhiyan are conducted in school campus Display of charts at the toilet gate for cleaning – time, Sweeper name Charts and Sign Boards are displayed for awareness of cleanliness Regular inspection by the engineering team for maintenance Officers have been allocated schools for inspection and report of infrastructural/maintenance gaps Next Step – Outsourcing of cleaning and maintenance

7 School Management Development Committee, School Civil Works Committee, Parents Teachers Association monitors issues of Infrastructure development, Water facility and toilet facility. Stake holders frequently check maintenance and cleanliness of school premises. Visit of public representatives, elected members of local bodies Local community Patels, Gram Sabha Members and women representative are active participants

8 Training to children from class 1 for hygiene and cleanliness. Children become familiar with use of toilets especially in primary section Teachers and counselors educate students through demonstration, lectures, debates, elocutions and audio-visual Special emphasis on washing of hands (handwash, sanitizers) – Food, Toilet Sensitization of students towards clean uniforms, bath, nail and hair cuts, use of shoes, garbage management, use of dust bins “Clean body Clean Environment” campaign/rallies Mid-Day-Meal cooks and helpers are trained in hygiene and cleaning aspect

10 Easy accessibility and adequate lavatory facility for girls improved daily attendance from 90% to 98%. Sanitary Napkins are provided to class 9 th to 12 th girls students Regular health check-up and counseling organised by Health Department Children with Special Need (CWSN) toilets facilities for girls Ramps are constructed to facilitate access for students of children with special need

11 Day to day Management of primary and upper primary schools by local bodies bring flexibility in implementation Education Committee of District Panchayat and Municipality conducts meeting regularly to meet the exigencies and provide first hand information and feedback to modify the policy as per the needs District Administration and Education Department monitor the functioning of schools and apprise the higher authorities. Local authority bodies of Panchayat, District Panchayat and Municipal Council monitor infrastructure, cleanliness and quality of education. Administration had appointed Mentors for implementation of various schemes, development of schools and quality of education.

12 Students are educated through visual posters and trained in use of Toilet facilities for self cleanliness and maintaining the toilet clean Issues on cleanliness are discussed in Parents Teachers meet and suggestion are taken up for improvement Swachh Vidyalaya programmes are presented through smart class for awareness, Documentary film are also shown Student participation and inculcation of self responsibility Junior students are educated through senior students for cleanliness and hygiene Award and prizes are distributed to schools for swachh vidyalaya campaign.

16 Outsourcing of cleaning and maintenance. Use of ICT for proper monitoring for e.g. biometric attendance for cleaners. Construction of bio-degradable toilets. Use of proper apparels, hand gloves, masks while cleaning. Recycling of waste water. Installation of STP in Schools. Development of integrated solid waste collection for all Schools.
