3 Geospatial LoB Implementation For Us to be successful We must….. –Have a Common View..this will improve coordination and decision-making –Share information..we must be willing to provide access to data and information –Foster interoperability….. by adhering to the architecture and standards requirements –Have a fundamental understanding of existing capabilities and business requirements –Have a National Strategic plan and roadmap…that we all are committed to –and lastly…..We need active engagement from FGDC agencies and partners to make the LoB a success!!!

4 Geospatial LoB Implementation Establishment MOUs and IAA –To initiate working relationship and funding to support the Joint Business Case and solutions outlined in Common Solutions/Target Architecture Document 2007 Investments Data Call –Agencies to update and report their inventories and investments of geospatial data and services NSDI/Circular A-16 Reporting –Data theme steward agencies are to provide a status and planned development baseline for each of the 34 A-16 datasets, including establishment of target dates, costs, and tasks for completing each dataset

5 Geospatial LoB Implementation Memorandum of Understanding (MOUs) and Interagency Agreements (IAs). –To formalize the business process with the Managing Partner (DOI) and participating agencies –Outlines the expectations, investments, and deliverables identified in the Joint Business Case (JBC) –MOUs were to be completed and submitted to Managing Partner (DOI) by April 27th

7 Geospatial LoB Implementation 2007 Data Call –Built upon lessons learned from the 2006 Data Call –Qualitative component to assess common business needs, data acquisition strategies, federal capabilities and priorities –Refined and consolidated the spreadsheets to target information that will be more useful in identifying and quantifying common data and services investments –Provided more succinct agency guidance to acquire data that will generate more compatible information

11 Geospatial LoB Implementation A-16 Reporting –A-16 Request to Agencies – distributed April 23 –Purpose: To compile lead federal agency performance reporting information with regard to national coverage coordination and stewardship of NSDI data themes as required by OMB Circular A-16 –Data will be used to assist in the development of the common solutions outlined in the Geo LoB Common Solutions and Target Architecture (CS/TA) document –Agency responses due May 25

12 Geospatial LoB Implementation Geo LoB Program Management Office (PMO) –Developing PMO Con Ops Approximately 6-7 FTEs Policy direction from the FGDC Steering Committee Management oversight by the the FGDC Coordination Group (currently the Geo Lob Task Force) Administered by the FGDC Secretariat Located at the USGS

13 Geospatial LoB Implementation Geo LoB Program Management Office (PMO) cont. –Establishing the PMO RFP for PMO support (pending) Will organize a team of agency reps to evaluate the proposals Many agencies have provided resource support as identified in JBC and executed by the MOUs Targeting July for granting contract, June milestone will be impacted
