TRANSITION PLAN IDEAS Sixth graders go to middle school campus – PARENT NIGHT Walking field trips to middle school –ASB presentation Carnival Night ---invite feeder schools Eighth graders go to high school campus Don Lugo has a parent night at Ramona ---performances/counselors –two day –talk with students, talk with parents, talk with students High school orientation ---parents one room, students one room…. Interactive with students, parents got information, then took walking tours Pathways at HS –targeting students to go and visit these pathways and do interactive things Make connections as schools with the 12 Powers of Family

School-Parent Compact ACTION STEPS Present School-Parent Compact Presentation to staff Develop school goals (3 – two academic, of which ONE IS EL, one non-academic) Develop grade level/department goals with strategies teachers and families can use to reach the goals Action Team takes grade level/department and family input and creates brochure from district template MAY 21 ST MEETING Brochures are due by June 25 th –one per grade level/department Market the compact Evaluate yearly and revise as needed

District Goals Our Goals for Student Achievement Five Goals on the SPSA, these three will appear on “brochure” ACADEMIC GOAL: Each student will gain at least, one proficiency level each year in reading and mathematics as the result of highly skilled instruction and the use of instructional technology. All students and staff will possess 21 st century skills required to access and use appropriate technology to increase student academic achievement. ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNER GOAL: All limited-English proficient students will become proficient in English and reach high academic standards, at a minimum attaining proficiency or better in reading/language arts and mathematics. English learners receive increased opportunities to enroll in more advanced courses, leading to college and career readiness. SAFE LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS: All students will be educated in learning environments that are safe, drug free, and conducive to learning. CVUSD will provide safe and secure school environments.

Current School-Parent Goals Pull out your Action Plan and review your current goals Partner Leaders –lead a discussion about keeping goals/changing goals based on current student needs and priority actions on your campus

Provide technological resources to increase student engagement, monitor student progress and improve student achievement. 100% of the students will have access to the CVUSD CCSS ELA Units of Study and 100% of the teachers will have access to Professional Development in ELA Units of Study. Students will increase reading comprehen- sion levels. Provide “Super Star Readers” backpacks to all Kinder- First Grade students to improve literacy skills for parents to read to their children at home. This practice will increase student achievement. Parents Are Teachers Too! (PATT) A six week program for Kinder and First Grade Parents.Types 1, 2, 3, 4 February –March, 2015 Family Stories The Latino Family Literacy Project is a 10 week literacy program for parents providing Literacy At Home strategies, curriculum, and activities. Type 1, 2, 4 April –May, 2015

100% of the students will have access to the CVUSD CCSS ELA units of study and 100% of the teachers will have access to the Professional Development in the ELD lessons embedded in the ELA units of study. All students will increase one or more levels on the CELDT Test the following year. English Learners will band up one CELDT level. English Learners who are not making progress in English will receive intervention support in English Language Develop- ment.
