2 PowerPoint presentations Same layout as MS Word The Ribbon: File, Home, Insert, Design, etc. A PowerPoint Presentation is a slide show. It consists of slides. The file type (extension) of a PowerPoint Presentation is.pptx All of these elements can be formatted, and also the whole slide show. A slide may contain text, images, graphs, charts, tree- diagrams, etc. Views: Normal, Outline, Slide Sorter, Notes Pages, Slide Master

3 Views Normal – slide preview on the left, slide on the right Slide Sorter – small slides, easy to rearrange, delete them Outline – the structure of the presentation Notes Pages – notes for yourself and your audience Slide Master – you can change the design of all slides here

4 Start a new presentation File – New – Blank Presentation / Templates Title Slide or Title and Content in different layouts Layout: Two Content, Title Only, Blank Views –Normal View: slide by slide –Outline View: very useful for writing a table of contents or a structure of the presentation –Increase or decrease list level: you can make a new slide from text and vice versa

5 Managing slides Outline View –you can move the slides up or down with the 4 headed arrow Normal View –select the slide by clicking on it and you can also move it around with drag and drop, or delete it Insert a new slide –On the Home tab, click New Slide, and pick a slide layout.

6 Home menu Slide Layout –Title and content –Two content –Title only: title + image –Blank: only image (e.g too big) Format fonts – it is preferable to use built in font types and sizes Bullets and numbers Increase/Decrease list level

7 Insert some things On the Insert tab, you can add: Pictures Shapes SmartArt graphics Charts make your presentation more visually interesting.

8 Insert Menu Table Pictures Shapes, SmartArt, Charts Hyperlink Text Box Header Footer –Date & Time –Slide Number  Include on all slide  Don’t show on title slide

9 Save your work File - Save as: –.RTF – to MS Word –.PDF – Adobe PDF file, cannot be changed, looks the same everywhere –.PPS - PowerPoint Show, only plays as a slide show, cannot be changed, good at expos, fairs, shows, where it can run on its own without you presenting –Image file:.JPG –File - Export –Video, CD, handout
