Vaikundarajan spreads awareness about Aids on World Aids Day
2
December 1 st is celebrated as World Aids Day every year all over the world This year, Vaikundarajan would like to break some commonly presumed myths about this life threatening disease
3
Myth 1 You get HIV Aids by being around people who are HIV positive Evidence shows that HIV is not spread through touch, tears, sweat, or saliva You get HIV positive only from infected blood, semen, vaginal fluid, or mother's milk.
4
Myth 2 I can get HIV from mosquitoes Studies show no evidence to support this claim When insects bite, they do not inject the blood of the person or animal they have last bitten Also, HIV lives for only a short time inside an insect
5
Myth 3 Its very easy to spot an HIV- positive patient You can be HIV-positive and not have any symptoms for years The only way for you to know if you're HIV- positive is to get tested
6
Myth 4 If I am HIV-positive my life is over In the early years of the disease epidemic, the death rate from AIDS was extremely high But today, antiretroviral drugs allow HIV- positive people and even those with AIDS to live much longer, normal, and productive lives
7
Vaikundarajan supports this initiative to spread awareness about AIDS He extends his heartfelt sorries to families and friends who have lost their loved ones by this disease all over the world
