The Compare/Contrast Format

The 0-1-2-3-3-2-3-3 system used:  P0 – The Hook  P1 – The Topic  P2s – The What or Why  P3s – The support

The compare/contrast system uses:  P0 – The Hook  P1 – states what is being compared  P2s – states the point of comparison  P3s – describes how each one is alike or different in that aspect

Crunchy, crunchy, crunchy but two things make a pear different than an apple. To begin, they each have a different shape. A pear is wide at one end and narrow at the top, while an apple is round. Another point is that they each taste differently. A pear is tart, and apples are usually sweet.

Photosynthesis and respiration are different in a myriad of ways. One way they differ is in their use of energy. In the process of photosynthesis, energy is stored while in respiration, energy is released. Another way they are different is in their use of carbon dioxide and oxygen. In photosynthesis, carbon dioxide is used by cells containing chlorophyll while oxygen is given off b the same cells; however, in respiration, carbon dioxide is given off by all living cells while oxygen is used by these cells.

Where do we go from here?

 Cats vs. dogs  Trucks vs. cars  Middle school vs. elementary  Math vs. language arts  Black vs. red  Lockers vs. backpacks Remember, this is compare and contrast. You may state an opinion, but it is NOT a rant!
