Today, you will complete ONE to get familiar with how the website works for an in-class assignment. *Raise your hand when you are finished, so I can come give you credit!

Image Analysis With a partner or small group of three, analyze each of the images associated with Beauty and the Beast. Things to write down: Thoughts/emotions/reactions Debatable questions Points about what the image is saying Use of stereotypes/language/images Different cultural references Comparisons/differences

Timed Writing (15 minutes) Consider the following question: In what ways does Beauty and the Beast and/or Disney influence gender roles and stereotypes? **Use your knowledge of the movie/story and ONE image to draw comparisons that answer the above question. Topic Sentence/s : Immediately answer the prompt and address what your focus will be. Support : Give reason #1 that backs up your topic. Explanation : In 1-3 sentences, explain what your evidence means. Support : Reason #2 Explanation: 1-3 sentence explanation Concluding Sentence: So What? What did all of this mean?

Group Activity (groups of 3) Task: (in-class assignment) 50 pts. Deconstruct a Disney movie/text by analyzing the gender roles/stereotypes created Produce a PowerPoint, poster, or other form of presentation that: Includes the movie with an image and/or short clip Pulls out 2-3 specific examples of gender roles and/or stereotypes Analyzes each example Draws comparisons to other forms of media/literature/texts (must have at least two other text forms)

Homework Read the myth Cupid and Psyche. Respond to the six prescribed discussion questions and type your answers in well-constructed responses. Be ready for whole-class discussion on Wednesday.
